Guardians of the Galaxy

In this first shot, the high angle shot creates emphasis on the strong emotion that Peter is feeling at this moment. The angle shows Peter feeling small and scared of what is above him in this green field. As well, the extreme colors and light occurring in this high-angle shot provide movement in the shot that is interesting to the viewer. The high angle also implies that he is not alone in the scene and that whatever is above him is of greater power. The extreme colors also represent the extreme feelings that are being felt by Peter in this scene. All of the contributing factors of the scene create a considerable contribution to the emotion and severity that is displayed to the viewer.

In this next shot, the shot is shown from knees up providing an almost full-body shot displaying the background and the full-grown Peter. This shot properly showed the background while also showing the character's outfit and accessories that give context to the story. These attributes were important to be shown in this shot to create a narrative for the viewer. The lighting and shadows also contribute to the mood of the film in this scene. Overall, this medium shot scene is quite effective in showing the character from knees up and providing the background.

This shot is an over-the-shoulder shot, it over Peter's shoulder looking at the screen where he is on the phone with somebody. Essentially, this shot shows us Peter's point of view and contains part of his shoulder and what he is looking at the moment. This point of view show projects the emotion that Peter may be feeling in the viewer. This is due to the viewer seeing what the main character is watching and hearing. This over-the-shoulder shot was effective at making the viewer feel what Peter was feeling while over the phone call he was being yelled at. The emotions of anger and fighting that are displayed in this scene are shown well through the over-the-shoulder shot.

This is two shot, which is filmed at a medium shot which shows both characters during their conversation. Since it was a romantic conversation, the two subjects were standing close together. In this shot, the two characters were having a romantic conversation which made use of seeing both characters in the conversation. The dark background creates emphasis on the romantic setting being created with dim lighting. The director also switched to over-the-shoulder angles when they talked this made the viewer really feel the emotion and chemistry that was foreshadowing a relationship between the two of them.

This is a close shot that introduces two characters to each other, by focusing on a singular character. It introduces this character as a calm presence since she is standing in a non-threatening stance. However, shortly after this scene changes quickly into a fight scene which surprises the viewer along with the main character.  The switch in mood created by the directing and angles taken of the character was important when introducing a new character to the plotline of the story.
