Former Student Work

Former Student Work     Roll Call:    This short film had extremely good attributes including the cohesive story line, different scenary and settings. Some of the scenes could have looked better or more enticing using faster paced editing such as whip pan to suprise the audience. Using a steadier camera in the beginning shots would have also been prouduced better if they had used a steadicam to film. In addition, lack of props in the background of the interviews created a dull shot that may be boring to the viewers. Also, intoducing more folley sounds to add emphasize on what was happening.     New Everything:  This film used effectively a invisible cut zooming in and zooming out, match cut while displaying the student walking, and folley sounds to add emphasize to his steps. Group Members      For my film project, I will be working with Aden Mangones. We chose to work together for this film project because we would easily be able to work together towards the goals that we set for our film. In addition, we work well together from what we have seen in past assignments. Therefore, the trial and error that will inevitably befall through this project will be manageable.      Working with Aden Mangones, we will begin with brainstorming and using what we have previously learned in this course to create a inspiring short film project. It was important to me that my partner would be easily accessible and an active part of our film. Throughout this course, I have found that filming is not as simple as it may seem. So, Aden is a dependable partner to complete this film porject with till the end of this academic year.

Story boarding

Through this project, I learned that storyboarding was not about the drawing but more about the descriptions and what you get across. Essentially, it is to narrow down what the production would and wouldn't need for the scene. Mis en scene and cinematography are also incredibly important in the production of storyboards.  My experience taught me that it is important to focus on the main subject compared to little background details when storyboarding. This is due to the film not being exact, instead, the main comparison is still getting across to the audience. This was an insightful project relating to film techniques and planning. Storyboards:

Mis en scene

The costumes in this scene had a huge influence over how the audience interpreted each character. This meaning that each character's wardrobe had to be carefully chosen. For instance, the separation in Cady Heron's outfit compared to the three other girl's outfits displayed the difference in the plot.  In this scene the costume, location, setting, props, lighting all incredibly effect the audience while they watch the movie. To begin, the setting itself being a prop stage of Aaron Samuels home was important to how the audience not only views Aaron Samuels but how the other characters relate to him. The location being a fairly small town is important to note how the character know and relate to each other. The props of the classic red solo cups to the houses decorations effect how the reader understands the scene. The dark lighting as well show the night setting and Halloween theme.  The framing of this scene was essentially very important, by putting Rachel George on to...
