PREPARING TO FILM
As Aden Mangones and I begin planning to shoot our short horror film we began discussing various topics. We separated the easily planned items and the more difficult planned items. To begin, we discussed the proper setting and the actors which will be in the film. We decided on my home for the setting of the home of the stalked individual. Which we will use the main living spaces, such as the kitchen, living room, dining room, and front yard for scene options. The actors will be played by Aden, my mother, father, and I. We also discussed the prop options and decided those would easily be purchased either online or at a party store. We will include fake knifes and fake blood. The filming equipment will be our phones to record.
Moving on to the more difficult items for Aden and I to decide. Scheduling the filming will definitely be a difficult feat. Coordinating our schedule and to block off a few days to shoot, film, and edit. In addition, including our foley sounds into the editing will add more time needed. So, Aden and I will begin blocking off our schedule for the proper amount of filming. During the majority of the filming Aden and I will switch between filming. If both of us are in the scene then another family member will film for us.
A major issue that we will discuss into further detail is costumes. We need to decide the proper dress code for the characters, so we will display an engaging mis-en-scene. The main stalker we know will have an intimidating costume with a mask. But the majority of other characters we need to discuss the planning of their costumes and outfits to greater detail.
Another difficult subject will be the dialogue. Dialogue including in the beginning of the short film with very little action and little sprinkled throughout during the “chase”. In order to ensure an interesting plot line in the film we will include more time scheduled for creating this engaging dialogue to the audience.
