Important Details in the Film
What takes a movie from subpar to superb? THE DETAILS!!! The mis-en-scene and specific details of our film definitely made it …well… IT!! Without the spilled the coffee on homework, the flowers potted in the front yard, etc it wouldn’t have the mood and tone that we were desperate to create. Which that is what we will be talking about today!! To begin with, the homework spilled with coffee on the counter. Which you will see here in a short photo.
The mis-en-scene incorporated here was SUPER important to the controls based on the lighting, props, and placement in this scene. Our main goal was to create a developed plot line through the use of these props to imply the character is already having a bad day therefore has hit her limit on how much she cares. The eerie scenes of the spilled coffee in this master shot is definitely clear to the audience.
Another instance of the mis-en-scene would be insert shot.
This is a clear shot that focuses the lighting on the flowers dressed with cobwebs. This specific lighting and color scheme is important because the development of this introducing scene. The three point lighting added depth and did a close up on an important part of the established setting.
Here you can see the messy hurried handwriting wrote by the mom and dad who are out of town. This describes that whoever wrote this was in a rush and did take the time to give details to their DAUGHTER. Hence, why she feels unloved. There is also some dramatic irony given that she leaves a door open after seeing this note on the fridge.
