Specific shot and angles

 Specific Shots and Angles!

WOWZA! Recently on this blog we have discussed representation, our recent days of shooting, and what i am finishing up, and more! As you would assume, filming was majorly difficult due to the specifics of the shots a their affects on the plot. Aden and I have been very particular while shooting this project about what shots and angles we take… In this blog I am going to give you a few examples and sneak peaks to our final angles and shots!

For starters! A great example of a specific shot we took was the Dutch angle still which shows the back door left open!! We chose to use a Dutch angles throughout film opening for a few different reasons. To add a level of disorientation, and a play with the depth of field in our shots. The attempt was to add to the already high level of eeriness and foreshadow the death coming soon.

Another example of the Dutch angle was our ending scene which displays the “almost” kill scene.
As you could see both scenes add a level of eeriness that it wouldn’t have displayed without the angle!

Two other great examples would be….high and low angle shots!! These shots were used at different instances of our filming for different reasons! The high angle still we used while my character, Ella, was taking out her dog fang! On the other hand, we used a low angle in the same scene for a different shot to display a “stalking” vibe. While in most cases the low angle shots are used to display a powerful person. The way the shot is shown it very much shows how a person could be hiding just “anywhere”. Both these added to the overall make up of the film and really brought the stalking scary mood we were attempting to build.

I don’t want to get repetitive but I do want to show you just a FEW more sneak peak shots. For instance our point of view, aerial shots, hip level shots, and insert shots!

Here you can see an Aerial shot. We chose an aerial shot for this makes the viewer feel powerful as they know something is gonna happen unlike the subject who is powerless.

This medium hip level shot was mainly used for this still scene was used to add a level of intensity to this scene in the plot.

I hope you enjoyed a look into Aden and I’s minds as creators of this film. And hope you are looking forward to our FINAL PROJECT!!
