Last blog I talked about our editing software and the issues we encountered. Now, imaging this was a major movie production —I would say that this movie would be improved vastly by the budget alone. For instance, the actors!! I would have Kiernan Shipka. Her young demeanor and acting skills would well suit this role better than I could. For starters, she is around 5’2 and has an extremely non-threatening demeanor. She has stared in the new horror movie, “Totally killer”. Shipka would honestly be the best actor we would’ve hired for our story!!Kiernan Shipka in a Horror movie
Now!! Costumes would probably be somewhat similar to what we had in our original film opening. Since we wanted our character to have a very relaxed state that should be a jarring comparison to what her parents would prefer. Although!! I would argue our setting and location would change considerably… I would prefer that we had a fancier home to emphasis the wealth and stature that the parents held in the community to just leave the child on a whim. I would really have liked the surroundings to have presented old wealth to the viewers. A home that would attract a killer to humble the residents of it out of his/her own sour perspective.
These are pictures of a home I would have LOVED to use as the house of our movie in a major movie production.
I think that out of all the experiences of this project the most valuable learning tools was the gruesome process of editing (we will discuss further in a future blog!!). Learning different editing tricks and techniques and learning how important sound is to film!! All of this was SUPER important to our final product. So, I would say if I had the opportunity to complete this film opening in a major motion picture my production would be QUITE different. I would say the use of a higher resolution and quality camera would have been helpful for the different zoom techniques that my partner and I had struggled while creating this film opening. The sound was also a problem. Without a boom mic or any mics… we were left with resulting in having to add background folly to most of our film opening. With a higher budget mics would’ve definitely been purchased!! Not to mention… the SOUNDTRACK. I would have included better music if we had the money to purchase specific properties of music.
Overall, there would be quite a bit changed considering a major motion picture budget! However, for what we had worked with the film opening turned out well!!
