Final Group Dynamics

 FINAL GROUP DYNAMICS
Previously! I had discussed in brief how Aden and I split the work in this film opening project. Today, I will discuss more about how we split the work catering to our specific expertise in this project. While, also, splitting this work perfectly evenly!!! In this blog post, I will write 3 different lists. One will be on what I did seventy-five percent of. The other will be what Aden did seventy-five percent and what we did both did together. In our project, I did the majority of the editing and foley because that was simply excited to learn more about that aspect of filming!! However, Aden took the lead in directing and participating in composition aspects in the film. Obviously, we really worked cohesively through this whole process and helped each other whenever the other need any help. But the majority of the time, we participated in our own skill sets. And everything was split evenly!!

What I did 75/25:
- Foley: Since Aden was in UF and the deadline of this project was fast approaching, I took the initiative to record and edit the foley. This process while tedious and laborious... was so worth it!! I recorded each sound effect using things around my house. However, through this entire process Aden did give some ideas which I was able to morph them into real sounds for our film opening.
-Editing: In addition, I did most of the editing for our film!! At the start, our project was entirely too long hitting around 4 mins or so. Aden assisted through this process giving me certain ideas of what shots we could cut out or speed up. And through this whole process I edited the film opening continuously attempting to improve the project and ensure every sound lined up. As well, when Aden returned from UF, he did review the final project and point out a few issues and fix them.
-Song choices: Through trial and error, I input and reviewed hundreds of free instrumentals that built certain suspense and growth throughout our entire project. After narrowing down to a few options, I asked Aden what he believed fit or didn't.
-Acting: Throughout this project, I was the lead actor and played Ella throughout the entire film working to create the drama and suspense. Aden played the killers hand as well which showed the final jump scare!

What Aden did 75/25:
- Title scene: Aden brilliantly came up with the idea for the title scene to be created using Q-tips because our final "almost kill" scene took place in the bathroom. In addition, he thought of how intriguing and suspenseful it would be to include it being stop motion. However, I did assist him in bring him to a black sofa where I believe the black background would be incredibly contrasting to the white Q-tips! As well, I took the time to edit all the picture together for the title sequence.
-Recording: I acted the majority of this film opening. SO!! It was reasonable to assume Aden did most of the recording seeing what composition and angle really looked best. Besides this, the final scene in the bathroom which we worked together on a tripod to set up the camera.
-Directing: While I was acting, it obviously clear that Aden took charge as the lead director of Aden and I's film opening ALONE. I did include insight here and there when I had a good idea that I thought would benefit our film. But Aden did most of the planning and took charge in this category!!
-Lighting: Aden beautifully set up the lighting in our shots and ensured that it was always set up properly! When the lighting seemed off, I did notify Aden, however, and attempted to help in problem solve.
-Mis en scene: Aden decided and handled the specifics of scenes. He considered what should or should not be included in the scene. And how everything should be set up! Although, I did give my insight occasionally on my personal preference on what I thought the set up should be for the scenes.

Both (did together) 50/50:

-Storyboard: I was super excited to film a horror film with Aden, simply because we had been watching them consistently and I thought it would be incredibly exciting to create with Aden. We came up with the girl home alone and a scary man killer. However, Aden made it real!! He came up with the majority of the scenes simply stitching every one of his ideas together seamlessly to create a really suspenseful dramatic story. I, of course, had some input too. I physically storyboarded all of his ideas and created detailed critical drawings we could reference as well. Aden, of course, did some of this too! And through trial and error, we worked on correcting the master shot together.
-Costumes: Essentially, the costumes were simply a black glove which Aden secured. And I found my costume which Aden suggest that the shirt be white to display innocence.
-Production design-Aden and I equally split the planning of shots for producing our scenes.
-Setting dates: Aden and I chose what days worked for both of us to split work equally and film. This was quite easy given we worked together and are dating this was an easy task to find dates to work together.

Aden and I really enjoyed our creating this film opening: ALONE! Personally, I believe this work was evenly split and everything worked perfectly towards our specific skills. Obviously, this was an incredibly long process so there may have been this also included and completed that did not come to mind!
